The bridge will span over the Thi Vai River, with a total length of 4.3 kilometres, and at a cost of over VND4.8 trillion (US$205 million), with VND2 trillion sourced from the State budget and the remaining from the province's budget.

The project is expected to be completed in five years.

Once completed, the bridge will link Phu My town of Ba Ria-Vung Tau with Nhon Trach district in Dong Nai province.

The construction of this bridge is expected to improve the connection between Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port and other provinces in the southern economic zone, and to reduce the load on roads around the port, including National Route 5.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau has allocated VND100 billion for the construction of the bridge. The Cai Mep-Thi Vai management board of traffic projects is actively working to accelerate the capital disbursement.

The board is currently working on a compensation plan, as suggested by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, to submit to the Government.

As for site clearance, the authority of Phu My has said it awaits the above policies to be approved to pay compensation for households affected by the project.
