Dong Nai and Champasak ink MoU on cooperation from 2022–2026

The People's Committees of Vietnam's Dong Nai Province and the Lao province of Champasak held a ceremony on December 28 for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on strengthening cooperation and friendship between the two authorities for the 2022 – 2026 period.

Under the MoU, the two provinces agreed to step up their bilateral friendship and enhance cooperation in Party building, healthcare, trade, culture, tourism, education, human resource training, agriculture, and people-to-people exchange.

The two sides also committed to create favourable conditions for businesses of both sides to develop markets and expand operations in each other’s country.

Each year, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee will grant 10 scholarships for Champasak students to study at colleges and universities.

Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung said that, over the past five years, Dong Nai and Champasak provinces have effectively implemented their MoU on cooperation for the 2016-2021 period, contributing to deepening the bilateral friendship and cooperation.

He reported that Dong Nai has provided 184 scholarships to Champasak students and donated more than 1 billion VND to support the Lao province in overcoming the consequences of floods and fighting against COVID-19 pandemic. Exchange visits have been held between the two provinces, he added.

He stressed that the re-signing of the MoU for the 2022-2026 period will contribute to promoting the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general and between the provinces of Dong Nai and Champasak in particular.
