As the number of Covid-19 cases in Dong Nai is increasing, especially at rental areas with a large number of workers in Bien Hoa, Nhon Trach, Trang Bom and Vinh Cuu, the authorities have sped up screen tests and considered relocating the workers to other areas.

Party Secretary of Vinh Cuu District Nguyen Van Thuoc said, "The number of Covid-19 cases in Vinh Cuu is only behind Bien Hoa City. "High population density in those areas is one of the causes of the spread. In some rental areas, we can still detect new patients after six rounds of screen tests," he said. "We’ve moved 700 people and are prepared to move another 1,000 people."

Party Secretary of Nhon Trach District Le Thanh My said they were still finding locations to relocate 600 workers from high-risk rental areas. In the same situation, Bien Hoa City has recorded over 12,000 Covid-19 cases and needs to move thousands of people. However, most places like schools have already been used as quarantine centres.

On September 9, Trang Bom, Thong Nhat, Xuan Loc and Cam My district authorities agreed to receive 4,500 people from Nhon Trach and Vinh Cuu. All workers must have at least one vaccination shot and have tested negative before the relocation.

Cam My District will receive 1,500 people from Nhon Trach. Most of them are recovered Covid-19 patients. Another 1,500 people from Nhon Trach will live in schools and stadiums in Thong Nhat District.

Chairman of Vinh Cuu District Nguyen Quang Phong said on September 9 that there are 39 quarantine centres in the district. About 300 patients recover and return to their homes every day. The majority of them are workers living in densely-populated rental areas. Letting them return to the rental areas would make preventive work harder, however, the district has run out of facilities.

Le Tuan, party secretary of Trang Bom District, said even though the situation in their district was also complicated, they would receive 480 people from Vinh Cuu to help ease the pressure.
