A virtual ceremony was held on last week to launch the free digital skill learning platform www.congdanso.edu.vn, which is designed to provide learners with the necessary digital skills to thrive in the digital era.

The platform was developed through the joint efforts of the International Organisation for Migration Vietnam (IOM Vietnam), Microsoft Corporation, and the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) under the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

It is part of a project for the 2020-2021 period titled “Strengthening access to online skills training for young workers in Vietnam”, which is an extension of Microsoft’s on-going Global Skills Initiative (GSI) that was launched in 2020 to address growing employment challenges resulting from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Open to anyone, particularly migrant workers, the www.congdanso.edu.vn platform provides digital literacy courses through an easy-to-navigate learning interface, whereby learners can gain knowledge and skills at their own pace.

After completing the e-learning course and passing the knowledge test, learners will be granted a course completion certificate from Microsoft Vietnam and DVET.

In the pilot phase, the online digital learning platform targets to provide 3,000 internal migrant workers and vocational students in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong Province and Dong Nai Province with opportunities to develop basic and necessary digital skills for employability and access to digital society.
