The High Command of the Naval Region 5 held a meeting between the delegations and soldiers in the island district of Phu Quoc, Kien Giang Province, on December 29.
Delegates came from the provinces of Soc Trang, Ca Mau, An Giang, Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Dong Nai, Hau Giang, and Vinh Long in addition to Can Tho City and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee. The delegations also included 60 reportersfrom various news agencies and localities.
Addressing the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Dang Tien, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5, expressed his gratitude to leaders of provinces and cities and reporters for sentiments towards the soldiers.
He noted that such affection has helped to encourage soldiers to overcome all difficulties to fulfil their missions.
On the occasion, the delegations presented Tet gifts to the High Command of the Naval Region 5 and soldiers stationed on Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province.
The visit is an annual event aiming to send best Tet wishes and gifts to soldiers who live far away from their homes to help them enjoy a happy Tet.
