Friendly libraries formed in Dong Nai

(ĐN)- Thirteen friendly libraries funded by Room to Read, a non-governmental organization based in the US, were formed in primary schools across Dong Nai in the beginning of this year.

(ĐN)- Thirteen friendly libraries funded by Room to Read, a non-governmental organization based in the US, were formed in primary schools across Dong Nai in the beginning of this year.

These libraries are expected to help develop reading habit and life-long learning skills among local students.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan, a librarian at Long Khanh primary school, said students have shown their excitement when visiting the libraries which offer not only books but also creative activities.
With more than 1,000 book titles, the library is able to serve students from first to fifth grades, according to the librarian.

Principal of Phu Dong primary school in Phu Dong commune, Nhon Trach district, said the model is a useful playground for students, help build up reading habit for his students while improving their reading, writing and living skills.

At Lam Son primary school, the library has been upgraded with creative and eye-catching designs to create a pleasant reading environment for children.

So far, Room to Read developed the friendly library model at elementary schools in 10 provinces and cities nationwide, including Dong Nai.

The library model has proven to enhance children's language and communication ability. Moreover, it has offered activities to develop students’ mental capacity.
