(ĐN) - The National Wage Council agreed to submit a proposal to the Government to increase the regional minimum wage in 2020 by 5.5 percent during their meeting on July 11.
Under the proposal, the minimum salary in region 1 will rise by VND240,000 per month. The rise in region 2 will be VND210,000 per month. Meanwhile that of region 3 will be VND180,000 per month and the localities in region 4 will be VND150,000 per month.
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s representative said this increase would require certain efforts as well as sharing with laborers. It would also force enterprises to cut down unnecessary costs, enhancing their competitiveness and technology to improve productivity, and thus raising their payment capacity.
