At the meeting, voters expressed their concerns over many issues, such as illegal sand mining, inundated streets during the flood season, construction management and rising petrol and electricity prices.

Local constituents also stated that they fully supported the fight against corruption and suggested that bolder actions are needed to recover misappropriated funds from corrupt officials.

Thuong informed voters that the Party and State have been focusing greater efforts on this mission, emphasising that there isn’t a no-go area in the fight against corruption.

Answering voters’ questions on asset recovery, the Party education head stated that embezzled money has been retrieved in a number of corruption cases, citing AVG as an example.

Concerning specific incidents that caused public discontent, Thuong asked the local authorities to deal with them in a radical manner in line with the regulations and under their authority.
