Three people die after boat sinks on artificial lake

Three people aged from 18 to 20 drowned on Tuesday and another girl is in a critical condition in hospital after their boat overturned and sank on Da Ton Lake – an artificial lake in Tan Phu District, Dong Nai Province.

Da Ton artificial lake in Tan Phu District, Dong Nai Province is a popular place for fishing and sightseeing in the province.

The victims, together with five other young people, on Tuesday afternoon borrowed a boat to travel to the islet on the lake for sightseeing. On their return, the boat began to be flooded. Some of the passengers were jumping, causing the vessel to capsize.

Just a few of the passengers knew how to swim, while onlookers were unable to rescue those who could not.

Local authorities are investigating the case.
