The scholarships, each worth VND2 million, were handed over to the students by Deputy Head of the provincial Party Central Committee (PCC)'s Commission for Communications and Education Le Thi Cat Hoa, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Son Hung, Director of Department of Education and Training Huynh Le Giang, and representative of Truong Hai Auto Company.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Nguyen Ton Hoan, Editor-in-Chief of the Dong Nai Newspaper stressed that the annual scholarships aim to give timely support to impoverished students who have good academic performances, encourage them to continue efforts at school.
The “Overcoming the present difficulties for brilliant future" scholarship also aims to step up the campaign for building a more educated society, said Hoan.
On this occasion, he thanked for the support of the agencies, enterprises, sponsors for students with difficult circumstances through the scholarships.
So far, the organizers provided 3,216 scholarships totaling over VND3.1 billion to disadvantaged students who have overcome difficulties to study well. Of the total, Truong Hai Auto Company donated VND2 billion.
In the coming time, the newspaper will continue to call for donations from organizations and enterprises to provide more scholarships to local poor students, help them to overcome difficulties.
