The ceremony, held by the provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization, was attended by Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Hoa Hiep of the provincial People’s Committee.
The provincial Red Cross Association received more than 59,000 units of blood from voluntary donors over the past two years.
The health sector has set a goal to collect at least 36,000 blood units in 2019. Accordingly, the committee will continue efforts to build wider public awareness of the need for committed donors to get more humanitarian blood donations to address a shortage of supply for emergency aid and treatment at many hospitals.
