According to the Ministry of Transport, three projects to build southern sections of the North-South Expressway have had their feasibility studies (FS) completed and submitted to the ministry for appraisal and approval, including the sections Dau Giay - Tan Phu, Nha Trang - Cam Lam, and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet.

In addition, a project to build a northern section linking Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa has also had it FS completed. The north-south expressway project has earlier been approved for investment by the National Assembly.
