(ĐN) - Dong Nai’s steering committee on food safety and hygiene has recently held a conference to summarise the work of 2017, and set out the plan for 2018.

In 2017, Dong Nai saw eight cases of food poisoning with 307 victims and 1 died. Particularly, the number of death and food poisoning cases had increased 1 and 3, respectively, from 2016.

Deputy Director Phan Huy Anh Vu of the Department of Health said that since the beginning of this year, the provincial steering committee on food safety and hygiene issued guidance documents on preventing food poisoning and infectious diseases.

He also stressed that the department and concerned agencies will continue strengthen their inspections across the province. Accordingly, the delegations of inspectors will be set up to check enterprises and discovered violations.

In addition, food safety management agencies in different localities should receive more training, and use the media to increase public knowledge on the issue, said Vu.
