(ĐN)- More than VND7.8 billion was raised for the poor in Dong Nai at an art performance held in the locality on October 14. Particularly, Thaco donated VND2 billion, Sonadezi, VND1 billion, and Golf Long Thanh, VND500 million, etc.
The event, organised by the provincial Fatherland Front Committee , saw the participation of many artists from Dong Nai and HCM city.
In 2016, the front’s Fund for the Poor raised over VND39 billion to build and repair 581 houses, help many poor households to stabilize their life. Additionally, many businesses have donated hundreds of billions of VND to social welfare programmes such as construction of schools, community houses and roads.
The province currently has 9,616 poor households, accounting for 1.21 percent of its population.
At the event, Chairman Huynh Van Toi of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee called on organisations and individuals to continue support for poor people to help them overcome difficulties and escape poverty.
