(ĐN) - Late last week, more than 2,000 people attended a meeting to launch Dong Nai Green Week, the first of its kind in the province, and to respond to World Environment Day 2017.
This year’s theme for World Environment Day “Connecting People to Nature”, encourages people to get outdoors and into nature to appreciate its beauty and its importance and take forward the call to protect the Earth.
Addressing at the event, Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh stressed that departments, social-political organisations, and local people should pay more attention to raising everyone’s awareness of environmental protection and turn their understanding into practical deeds. He also called local authorities at all levels, businesses and residents to join hands to protect the environment.
After the meeting, the leaders joined local people in planting trees, and clean up the environment.
The Green Week will take place between June 3 and 11.
