The truck was traveling on DT 769 when it rammed the fence on the An Vieng Bridge, in Binh An Commune, Long Thanh District, and plunged into the river below at around 1:00 am on Sunday.

Following the accident, the front cab of the vehicle made contact with the surface of the water, while its tray remained on the riverbank.

Several parts of the truck were severely damaged, and nobody was injured in the crash, including the truck driver, 29-year-old Le Hoang Phien.

Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after being notified to carry out their investigation and control local traffic.

Three rescue trucks were dispatched to the scene to help salvage the stricken vehicle.

Other road users were blocked from the bridge during the salvage operation in order to ensure traffic safety, resulting in serious congestion that lasted over two hours.

The truck was craned off the riverbank at 9:30 am on Sunday moring, before traffic on the bridge was able to return to normal.

On September 30, 2016, a concrete-laden trailer truck slammed into the same fence of the An Vieng Bridge before diving into the river, leading to the driver and his assistant being injured.
