(ĐN)- During two days, March 7-8, localities across Dong Nai province held activities to mark the 107th anniversary of International Women’s Day (March 8) and the 1,977th anniversary of the Two Trung Sisters’ Uprising.
In the morning of March 8, the provincial Club for retired women leaders held a get together to review its activities between October 20, 2016 and February 15,2017.
Over the past four months, the 98-members club has cooperated with localities to raise more than 417 million to help local poor and disabled people; the members’ ideas also contributed to the province’s development.
At the same day, the women unions at the districts and Bien Hoa city also organized meetings to review the patriotic solidarity and creativity of Vietnamese women in general and local women in particular over the past years. Besides, culinary and sport festivals were also launched to celebrate the event.
On this occasion, Nhon Trach district’s Women Union awarded 40 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to its poor members’ children. Vinh Cuu district’s Women Union visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers and offered 10 scholarships and gave 134 health insurance cards to local poor women.
