Over 100 tonnes of bananas sold out to help farmers

(ĐN)- After four days of launching the campaign to help local banana farmers, around 106 tonnes of bananas grown by farmers in Trang Bom district have been sold out.

 

(ĐN)- After four days of launching the campaign to help local banana farmers, around 106 tonnes of bananas grown by farmers in Trang Bom district have been sold out.

Traders also purchased bananas at prices of VND2,500-3,000 per kg at their gardens, doubled the prices compared to early this month.

Nguyen Tuan Khoi, General Manager of Vietnamese Arms Compassionate JS Company in HCM city said that ripe bananas are currently purchased at VND5,000 per kg. As planned, the company will buy harvested bananas in the next two weeks.

 In response to the thousands of tonnes of bananas that Chinese buyers refused to purchase, the Dong Nai Youth Association in cooperation with Vietnamese Arms Compassionate JS Company, Dong Nai Young Entrepreneurs’ Association and Nhat Ha Organic Food Store launched the campaign entitled “Gratitude bananas” to share difficulties with local banana farmers.
