The prices of banana have dropped to VND1,000-1,500 per kg, causing big losses to local farmers. Many of them had used the fruits to feed their cattle instead of selling to buyers.
In efforts to share difficulties with local banana farmers, the campaign which is jointly launched by Dong Nai Youth Association, Vietnamese Arms Compassionate JS Company, Dong Nai Young Entrepreneurs’ Association and Nhat Ha Organic Food Store have bought bananas at a price of VND4,000 per kg and sell them at VND8,000. The profits will be used to run charity programs.
After two days, 19 tonnes of bananas have been sold out. Many organizations have promised to purchase more bananas to help local farmers in the province.
