(ĐN) – Dong Nai Association of AO/dioxin victims on August 9 held a meeting to mark the 55 years of AO/dioxin catastrophe in Vietnam (August 10, 1961).

Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of the provincial People’s Committee attended the event.

Dong Nai is now home to more than 13,000 AO/dioxin affected people. Over the past years, the province has made many efforts to provide monthly allowances and care for the victims. However, many of them are still living in poverty and suffer from serious diseases as consequences of exposure to the toxic chemical.

The Association targets to mobilize some VND6.5 billion per year to ease the victims’ difficulties.

On this occasion, Dong Nai AO/dioxin Victims' Association awarded certificates of merit for 21 collectives and 24 individuals for their contributions over the past years.
