New Ghenh bridge inaugurated

(ĐN)- The Vietnam Railway Corporation on July 2 inaugurated the restore project of big Dong Nai bridge (Ghenh bridge) spanning the Dong Nai River in Dong Nai province on July 2.

(ĐN)- The Vietnam Railway Corporation on July 2 inaugurated the restore project of big Dong Nai bridge (Ghenh bridge) spanning the Dong Nai River in Dong Nai province on July 2, replacing the old Ghenh bridge collapsed on March 20 after a barge crashed into its pillars.

Thus, after three months of construction, the new bridge is completed and officially put into traffic. The new bridge has total length of 239 meters and is three meters higher than the old one, so that  it can allow ships with bigger deadweights to pass through.

The bridge was opened to traffic on June 25, 20 days earlier than the Government’s urgent instruction to promptly complete the construction of the new bridge. Construction of the new bridge began on April 1 at an estimated cost of VND295.8 billion.
