(ĐN)- More than 54,000 kids have had accidents in Dong Nai province, including 219 deaths, in the last five years of 2011-2015. Of them, 133 have died from drowning, accounting of 61 percent.

The figures were reported at the conference to review the activities of preventing children from having accidents from 2016-2020 held by the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) on Tuesday.

At the conference, participants share their experience as well as contributed many measures in preventing kids from having accidents in their localities.

Accordingly, in addition to the enhancement of communication work to raise the awareness of injury prevention among children, the community, relevant agencies and staff, many participants stressed the need of building more swimming pools, teaching swimming skills and other measures to prevent fatal drowning and traffic accidents.

During the 2016-2020 period, DoLISA will work closely with relevant bodies to enhance communication work and implementation of Children Law, which takes effect from 2017, along with creating more programs to protect, take care of children as well as deploy other drastic measures to protect children from accidents and injuries.
