Bosch-Lilama deal signed to offer mechatronics training

The agreement was reached by Bosch Vietnam, Lilama 2 Technical and Technology College, and the German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam.

Vo Quang Hue, Vice President and Managing Director of Bosch Vietnam Co., Ltd, said Bosch will invest 150,000 USD in equipment for the new training programme which would be conducted in line with German standards.

The funding raises Bosch's total investment in vocational training in the country to 1 billion USD since the programme began in 2013.

Admission to both industrial mechanics and mechatronics courses for the 2016-17 school year is now open, with an annual intake of 12 apprentices per discipline.

Apprentices will undergo 3.5 years of study. Lilama 2 will be in charge of providing theoretical knowledge, while Bosch Vietnam will be responsible for training practical skills.

Bosch also announced its business results on the day, posting a 50 percent growth in Vietnam for fiscal year 2015, amounting to 68 million USD in consolidated sales.

The company plans to invest an additional 22 million USD in its Gasoline Systems plant that makes continuously variable transmission pushbelts in Dong Nai province, Hue said.

Operating in Vietnam since 1994, Bosch had 2,400 employees as of December 31 last year.
