Dong Nai identified conserving biodiversity as one of the fundamental tasks in its environmental protection efforts.

(ĐN)- Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve on May 19 organized a meeting to mark the International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22).

The event attracted more than 200 students from 10 high schools across the province and representatives from departments, agencies and Vinh Cuu district.

This year’s theme “Mainstreaming Biodiversity; Sustaining People and their Livelihoods”, aims to increase community awareness of the issues related to global biodiversity and wildlife conservation.

Viet Nam had made a strong commitment to conserving biodiversity. The country developed the first Biodiversity Action Plan in 1995 and adopted the Biodiversity Law in 2008.

The commitment went beyond borders because Viet Nam had signed a number of international conventions, notably the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
