Ngo The An, chairman of the Long Thanh District People’s Committee, said during meetings between residents and parliamentary candidates and Government working groups, the former expressed support for the airport but grumbled about the fact it has been delayed by over 15 years.
According to the provincial authorities, land acquisition for the airport will be divided into two phases, with the total cost reaching VND13 trillion (US$583 million).
According to a report from the provincial administration, 4,730 households with nearly 15,000 members in the communes of Binh Son, Suoi Trau, Cam Duong, Bau Can, Long An, and Long Phuoc will be affected.
In the first stage, 2,557ha of land in Binh Son, Long An, Suoi Trau, and Cam Duong will be taken over, affecting over 1,800 households in these communes, including 1,000 households having to move from their homes. Total compensation of over VND5 trillion will be paid.
Over 2,442ha will be acquired in the second stage, affecting 2,922 families, of whom over 2,500 have to move out. Compensation of over VND8 trillion will be paid.
Dong Nai authorities will build two new residential areas -- Loc An-Binh Son (over 282ha) and Binh Son (over 282ha) -- north of Long Thanh International Airport
