Food Safety Action Month launched in Long Khanh

(ĐN)- Action Month for Food Safety with the theme “To strengthen manufacturing, selling, purchasing safety vegetables and meat” was launched by Long Khanh town People’s Committee on April 13.

The program aims to place responsibility for food safety on management agencies at all levels, enterprises and consumers in the locality.

During the action month, activities to enhance consumer confidence in buying and consuming fresh food will be held. The media will be widely used to raise awareness on food safety and the requirements of food certificates.

The event also includes a campaign to promote activities for food safety and hygiene, take initiative in preventing food contamination and poisoning, especially mass poisoning and food-borne diseases, due to the use of unsafe products.

Healthcare agencies, food producers and consumers are encouraged to join the program to inform the public of Government regulations on food safety and hygiene. They will also provide information on safe food processing and preparation to reduce cases of food poisoning.

After the launching ceremony, the participants joined in a parade through streets of the town to propagandize food safety and hygiene. Moreover, the town will inspect premises, test food and handle violations in the locality.
