Earlier, in January this year, Dong Nai provincial People's Committee asked the Ministry of Transport to approve the extension of HCM City's first metro route Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien to 4.7 km to the Vung Tau intersection in Bien Hoa City.
The ministry has requested HCM city’s People's Committee to report the proposal to the Prime Minister for soon deployment of the extended route as proposed by Dong Nai provincial People's Committee.
As far as known, to avoid severe traffic congestion at HCm city’s eastern gateway in the future, the Prime Minister has approved the HCM City's transport development plan by 2020-30. Accordingly, the first metro route will be considered for extension from Suoi Tien Park in District 9 to the Sac Market crossroads in Bien Hoa City in Dong Nai and Binh Duong province’s Industry-Urban-Service Complex.
