(ĐN)- Over the past five years, Dong Nai has implemented important solutions to maintain traffic safety and to reduce the number of accidents.
Accordingly, the solutions focused on increasing the local authorities and relevant agencies’ organisation and operation of traffic safety and order, raising people’s awareness on traffic rules, and improving infrastructure.
Particularly, the agencies have maintained media campaigns to disseminate information on traffic safety and order to people, as well as regularly carried out patrols on highways in the province.
Besides, local authorities have done their utmost to step up the upgrade of highways to deal with high-risk spots.
As a result, the number and severity of local traffic accidents have continued to fall, becoming one of the provinces nationwide with high reduction in rate of traffic accidents.
There were more than 3,415 traffic accidents reported in the province in 2011-2015 period, of which 2,120 people were killed and 3,156 injured. Compared with the previous period, the death rate fell by 18 percent, a reduction of 460 cases.
