(ĐN)- Over the past five years, Dong Nai has made efforts to reduce its poverty rate from 6.6 percent to under 1% by removing 35,000 poor households from the list this period.

From 2011 until now, Dong Nai raised more than VND1.1 trillion to implement poverty reduction policies. Particularly, the province provided preferential loans to over 54,000 poor households to develop production, offered vocational training for 12,000 labourers, gave health insurance cards to some 700,000 needy people.

The province currently has around 7,000 poor households. Accordingly, Tan Phu, Cam My and Dinh Quan districts are among localities with high rates of poor households.

In the coming time, Dong Nai will continue to build suitable social welfare policies in a bid to help the poor escape from poverty on their own.
