Social workers are needed in industrial parks to provide mental health services for workers, participants said at a seminar held by the Viet Nam Trade University in Ha Noi on Tuesday.
The Central Mental Hospital No. 2 and the Dong Nai Province's Educational Psychology Science Association recently conducted a survey on 840 workers in the province's Bien Hoa Industrial Park and found that 14.3 per cent of the surveyed workers had mental health problems.
The survey found that the rate of female workers with mental health problems is two times higher than male workers. Many of these workers live in rented houses under poor living conditions and are employed in less than desirable working conditions.
