(ĐN)- A meeting to celebrate the 24th International Day of Older Persons was held in Dong Nai on October 1, with Head of Dong Nai provincial Department of Propaganda and Training Huynh Van Toi in attendance.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Huynh Van Toi highly appreciated contributions made by local elderly people to the province's socio-economic, cultural and educational development.
He asked the provincial departments, agencies and localities to promote activities to care for the elderly, raise public funding to improve lives of disadvantaged older people in ethnic and remote areas.
October has been designated as the Action Month for the Vietnamese Elderly under Decision No.544/QĐ-TTg signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
In response to the month, Dong Nai focuses on raising public awareness of and attracting social resources to care for the elderly in especially difficult circumstances, providing free health check-ups and organizing cultural-and sport events for needy elderly people.
