(ĐN)- A conference to review the activities of bailiffs during the past two years has been organized in Dong Nai on September 3.
This is a pilot project on bailiffs in accordance with Minister of Justice Decision on September 12, 2013.
So far, Dong Nai has established 5 bailiff offices in Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Trang Bom districts, Long Khanh town and Bien Hoa city.
By the end of August, bailiff offices had sent out more than 30,000 notices of enforcement and verified 947 cases for enforcement of court decisions while directly executing 18 cases involving over VND25 billion.
The major duties of a bailiff include enforcing civil verdicts, serving claims, summonses and orders from courts to defendants, and executing civil enforcement warrants.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai of the provincial People’s Committee stressed that bailiff offices have helped improve protection of people's legitimate interests as well as the functioning of judicial agencies. He also asked further efforts to raise people's awareness about the role of bailiffs.
