Power saving programme launched in Dong Nai

The launching ceremony was held at Dong Nai Conference Centre on May 30 by the Electricity of Vietnam Northern Power Corporation and Department of Industry and Trade. The event attracted around 2,000 representatives from departments and agencies of 21 provinces and cities and local people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of the provincial People’s Committee called on further efforts to conserve energy. Particularly, the power companies should continue boost their cooperation with the media to increase awareness of electricity conservation, launch campaigns and programs to encourage households, enterprises and agencies to use energy sparingly and efficiently, honor collectives and  individuals for their achievements in power saving.

In 2014, electricity consumption at 21 northern cities and provinces declined by more than 1.2 billion kWh. Accordingly, Dong Nai saved over 253 million kWh of electricity, being one of leading localities in power saving.
