Initial statistics showed that in Binh Phuoc, nearly 11, 000 hectares of plants were lost completely because of the influence of dry weather. Moreover, around 7, 224 hectares of rice, vegetable crops and 3, 000 hectares of industrial plants were wilted due to water shortage, with an estimated damage worth of VND 75 billion.
Currently, over 11, 000 households and farmers in Bu dop, Loc Ninh, Dong Phu, Chon Thanh and Dong Xoai districts have faced to terrifying lack of water in their life and plantation.
Facing to similar situation, households and farmers in Dong Nai’s districts like Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Cam My, Xuan Loc, Trang Bom and Thong Nhat had have to dig wells to pump water for irrigation. Many residents had to drill deeper wells from 80- 100 meters to extract fresh water for daily use and irrigation. In Nhon Trach district, over 1, 000 hectares of sugarcane crops have been wilted due to dry weather.
