Efforts to improve living conditions for ethnic groups

(ĐN)- Over the past time, Thong Nhat district has made reasonable efforts to implement ethnic work and policies, contributing to improving ethnic groups' living conditions, strengthening national great unity and maintaining political security and social order, said Secretary Bui Xuan Thong of the district's Party Committee.

(ĐN)- Over the past time, Thong Nhat district has made reasonable efforts to implement ethnic work and policies, contributing to improving ethnic groups’ living conditions, strengthening national great unity and maintaining political security and social order, said Secretary Bui Xuan Thong of the district’s Party Committee.

Accordingly, national programs for socio-economic development (Programme 134, 135) have been carried out effectively and brought benefits to local minority ethnic households. Particularly, billions of dong were also spent to construct rural traffic projects, schools, health stations, water and electricity projects in the locality.

So far, 720 minority ethnic households have received houses and land, hundreds of others have been provided with seeds, breeding animals, fertilizer, and machines for production. The programs have also helped locals to access to clean water sources; 100% of residents are currently connected to the national electricity grid.

Until now, living conditions in Thong Nhat has been improved, with a significant reduction in the number of poor households and marked progress in education and healthcare. The district is now home to 20 minority ethnic groups.

Local army forces also joined hands to help ethnic people, presented gifts and provides free medical check-ups and medicines to them.
