(ĐN)- Around 38,700 rural laborers received vocational training between 2010 and 2014 under a project on rural vocational training until 2020, reported Dong Nai Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
The report also added that more than 29,000 of the trained labourers were able to get new jobs or earned higher incomes from their existing ones. Due to this training, more than 2,000 underprivileged households in the province escaped from poverty and over 3,200 others had better living conditions.
Vocational training for rural people must be coupled with job creation to increase their opportunities to escape from poverty, the Department’s representative said.
As part of the scheme, the province spent VND95.4 billion for training materials and teaching facilities at local vocational training centres over the past five years.
Around 5,800 rural workers will receive vocational training every year from now until 2020. The VND130 billion scheme will prioritize poor households, ethnic minority people and policy beneficiaries. In this period, the province will continue to raise public awareness of the importance of vocational training in job creation, increase the incomes and quality of rural workers, and develop a network of training establishments, lecturers, managers, curricula and teaching materials.
In the coming time, the localities are going to make efforts to ensure that agricultural skills offered in training curricula will be in line with directions set by the programme on new rural areas building and plans for agricultural development and restructuring in the corresponding localities. Similarly, the training of non-agricultural jobs would be based on local development plans for industry, services and handicrafts.
