The Ministry of Transport is considering a plan to build the first 47 kilometers of the long-planned Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway to make it easy to call for investors.

This section costs an estimated VND7.6 trillion.  Currently, the ministry is working with relevant agencies over construction plans for the 70-kilometer Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway.

Project Management Unit 85 (PMU 85) under the ministry has proposed the first phase of the project for the 47-kilometer, four-lane section connecting Bien Hoa city in Dong Nai province and Phu My in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province with a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The investment plan for this phase has been completed.

Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong has told relevant units to review the project, the designed speed and total investment before the ministry makes a final decision.

Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway will be developed at an estimated cost of VND22 trillion in the Southern Key Economic Zone, which is the nation’s fastest growing region and home to a number of key infrastructure projects including Cai Mep-Thi Vai deep seaport complex in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and the planned Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province.
