(ĐN)- Dong Nai province’s Traffic Safety Committee in collaboration with the Asia Injury Prevention (AIP) Foundation held a meeting on Tuesday to review the Helmets for Kids program in 2014.
The project has been deployed at 8 primary schools in Long Khanh town, Bien Hoa city, and Trang Bom district.

Last year, 3,000 pupils of 8 primary schools in Dong Nai received safety helmets. The program to exchange tight, damaged helmets for new ones for pupils at those primary schools. Moreover, the program also organized many activities to raise awareness among teachers and pupils on the traffic laws.
As a results, the helmet usage rates among the students has jumped from 48.9 to 92.4 percent, the program also helps increase the awareness among teachers and parents of child helmet wearing.
In 2015, the project will continue its deployment in order to increase the rate of students wearing safety helmets on the road with the aim to reduce the number of traffic crash injuries and fatalities.
