(ĐN)- As many as 423 Vietnamese students and young researchers, who had good performance in their studies, have been awarded Odon Vallet scholarships. 17 of them came from Luong The Vinh high school in Dong Nai province.
Students at universities and colleges and young researchers received VND12 million each, while secondary school students were given VND7 million.
Since its establishment in 2001, the Vallet Scholarship Fund has allocated over VND120 billion to more than 22,000 students in order to encourage and support them to overcome difficulties and achieve scholastic success.
In 2014, the fund is expected to grant 2,250 scholarships worth VND20 billion to students and researchers throughout Vietnam.
Prof. Vallet, a lecturer at France’s Sorbonne University, inherited a 120 million EUR fortune from his father, which he uses to finance the scholarships for excellent young students in France, Vietnam, and several small countries in Africa.
