(ĐN)- A meeting was held at Long Khanh town’s Culture and Sports Center on June 5 by the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment to mark World Environment Day (June 5).

The event was attended by Vice Chairwoman Huynh Thi Nga of the Provincial People’s Council, Vice Chairman Vo Van Chanh of the Provincial People’s Committee, leaders of departments, sectors and localities along with more than 1,500 local people.
After the event, more than 200 young people joined a cycling parade along main streets in the town to call on people to protect the environment. Many other people took part in the cleaning up at some public places in the town.
On this occasion, leaders also planted trees to mark World Environment Day.

Under the theme ‘Raise your voice, not the sea level’, this year’s World Environment Day provides a good opportunity for countries to unite to overcome difficulties and challenges in coping with climate change, rising sea levels, increasing pollution and environmental degradation, while ensuring ecological balance for sustainable development.
With a coastal line stretching more than 3,260km, Vietnam is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change and a sea level rise.
