(ĐN)- A ceremony to mark the 124th birthday of the late President Ho Chi Minh and honour science and technology intellectuals took place at Tran Bien Temple of Literature on May 19.
The ceremony was attended by Head of the Commission for Communications and Education Huynh Van Toi, Vice Chairmen of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Minh Phuc and Nguyen Thanh Tri, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council Huynh Thi Nga.

Addressing at the event, Mr Huynh Van Toi highlighted the huge contributions of President Ho to Vietnam’s revolutionary cause and recall Uncle Ho’s good sentiments toward the South. He also affirmed that the entire Party organisation and people of Dong Nai are determined to strive to follow the late President’s moral example and work towards building a prosperous country.

At the ceremony, outstanding individuals who won in the story telling and writing contests “Studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples” were honoured.
Earlier, on May 18, the leaders of the province and Bien Hoa city burnt incense at Tran Bien Temple of Literature. Besides, a photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh opened at the Temple.
In honour of Uncle Ho, localities across the province launched tree planting festivals to raise public awareness of environmental protection.
Accordingly, the localities planted 5 hectares of forests and some 10,000 trees in public places.
This year, Dong Nai province set the goal of planting more than 400 hectares of protective and special-purpose forests.
Various cultural and artistic activities also got underway on the occasion.
