The National Week on Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention was launched in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on March 16.
(ĐN)- The Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs on March 16 launched the16th National Week on Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention in Thua Thien-Hue province.

Themed “Think and act for the target of no labor accident, occupational disease, fire, or explosion in the workplace”, the week will focus on promoting propaganda, training, inspection, and examination of labor safety and hygiene and fire prevention at enterprises, production and business establishments; visiting and encouraging families of victims of labor accidents and occupational diseases; and organizing responsive meetings.
The event will be launched across the country from March 16-23.
In Dong Nai, the launching ceremony of the annual week will be held at Trang Bom district’s Song May Industrial Park on March 22 and is expected to draw the participation of around 2,000 people.
As known, Dong Nai ranks fifth out of 10 provinces and cities with highest work-related accidents in the country.
In 2013 alone, 1,650 labor accidents and 51 cases of fire occurred in the province, killing 27 people and injuring 1,951 others, causing an estimated loss of more than VND5.6 billion.
To respond the National Week on Occupational Health and Safety – Fire and Explosion Prevention, the province has set up seven inspection teams and they will examine measures against work place accidents, including fires and explosions at businesses and factories in the province.
