Huynh Huu Nghia, Deputy Head of the Ong Pagoda’s executive board said that every month, the pagoda donates 200 kg of rice and 20 litres of cooking oil to the humanitarian meals for patients at Dong Nai General Hospital and Children Hospital.
In addition, the Ong Pagoda’s executive board also mobilized over VND250 million to dredge canals leading to the pagoda and upgrade many local traffic roads.
Since 2012, the pagoda’s charitable activities have been expanded to the rural areas. Accordingly, the pagoda has provided 20 tons of rice for poor people in the province on the occasion of the Vu Lan religious festival.
In 2013 alone, 6 tons of rice were handed over to the poor in Cam My district’s rural communes and another ton was presented to disadvantaged people in Binh Phuoc province.
