(ĐN)- In 2013, Dong Nai province’s Red Cross Association and its agencies carried out a number of humanitarian programs worth VND94.3 billion, fulfilling 119.6% of the yearly target.

The figures were released at the provincial Red Cross Association’s meeting to review its activities in 2013 and work out the plans for 2014.
In this period, the Red Cross associations at all levels presented gifts to 208,500 disadvantaged beneficiaries, gave 53,500 Tet gifts to poor people and AO/Dioxin victims, awarded scholarships to studious poor students and handed over 465 wheelchairs to disabled in the province.
In addition, the association built and handed over 148 charity houses and other humanitarian projects with the total cost of nearly VND10 billion.

Besides, the association provided aid relief worth VND3.6 billion to seven central provinces, offered free check-ups and medicine to 195,500 poor people as well as provided free eyes surgeries to nearly 6,000 others.
In 2014, Dong Nai province’s Red Cross Association and its agencies will continue efforts to improve their humanitarian activities and provide better check-ups and medicine to the local people.
