Dong Nai honors blood donors

(ĐN)- Dong Nai province’s Steering Committee of Voluntary Blood Donation on June 14 held a ceremony to honor individuals and collectives for their blood donation efforts and launched the Red Blood Drops Summer Campaign 2013.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri.

Individuals receive certificates of merit of Vietnam Red Cross Association 

In 2012, the province’s humanitarian blood donation programs received wholehearted support from more than 27,000 employees, students and local people, collected 23,600 units of blood, fulfilling nearly 154% of the year’s target.

The province targets to collect 7,500 units of blood this summer. Accordingly, it will strive to reach and surpass the set target for the whole year, solve blood shortages in the province’s hospitals.

On this occasion, 3 collectives and 7 individuals received certificates of merit of Vietnam Red Cross Association, 232 others were honored by Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee and Red Cross Association.

Earlier, a ceremony honoring 182 outstanding voluntary blood donors was also held by Bien Hoa city’s Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.

The event aims to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and more blood banks to save the lives of millions in need.
