A 125 kilometre section of National Highway 1 from Phan Thiet to Dong Nai will be upgraded pursuant to a contract signed yesterday between the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Ministry of Defence’s 319 Corporation.
A 125 kilometre section of National Highway 1 from Phan Thiet to Dong Nai will be upgraded pursuant to a contract signed yesterday between the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Ministry of Defence’s 319 Corporation.
The total investment is estimated to be approximately VND2.1 trillion (US$100.8 million), which will be funded by Vietinbank.
Work is scheduled to start in April with an estimated completion date set for 2014.
A toll station is included in the construction plans and tolls for travelling on this highway section will begin in January 2015.
Earlier on March 26, work began on a project to expand National Highway 1 from Nghi Son in Thanh Hoa province to Cau Giat in Nghe An province.
The MOT has set a target to complete the expansion of the trans-Vietnam National Highway 1 by 2016.
