Police in southern Dong Nai Province are investigating a car robbery in which two men used a stun-gun to attack a man whom they had hired to drive them from Binh Duong to Dong Nai in his car.

The victim was Nguyen Minh Thanh, 45, the car’s owner, who lives in Binh Duong Province’s Di An Town.

Thanh reported to local police that two strange young men hired him to drive them from Di An to an area in Dong Nai on Thursday afternoon.

When the car, a Toyota Zace, reached Hung Vuong Street in Dong Nai’s Trang Bom Town, the two men suddenly struck Thanh with a stun gun. They then tied Thanh’s hands and feet, and blindfolded and gagged him with adhesive tape.

The robber took away 2 mobile phones, the car’s papers and a wallet containing VND1.2 million (US$57.6) in cash from Thanh.

They then threw Thanh to the roadside and drove the car away. The victim was found and rescued by local residents at about 7 pm the same day.

The police are investigating the case and hunting for the robbers.
