(ĐN)- The 7th National Congress of Buddhist Shangha, themed "Inheritance - Stability - Development", is taking place in Hanoi from November 21-24.
The congress attracts the participation of around 1,000 monks and followers nationwide, including 15 Buddhist delegates from Dong Nai led by Superior Buddhist Monk Thich Minh Chanh, Head of the provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee.
Earlier, the province’s Committee for Religious Affairs met with the local representatives who have been selected to attend the Congress.
The congress aims to review the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s religious activities during the 2007-2012 period, while adopting an action plan for the Sangha in the 7th term 2012-2017. It will also elect 199 members and 52 alternates of the executive council, 60 members to the council's steering committee, and 90 members to the Dharma Patronage Council.
