(ĐN)- A meeting was held in Dong Nai on June 6 to mark 71th anniversary of Vietnam Elderly Day (June 6).
Addressing the meeting, Dong Nai Elderly People Association’s representative affirmed that the elderly people have played an important role in the province’s socio-economic development and the great national unity bloc.
Accordingly, the association has made efforts to pay attention to the health and lives of local elderly people. Over the past time, the association and its agencies raised more than VND28 billion to take care of the elderly and help them lead a long healthy and happy life.
On this occasion, the Elderly Association, Front Fatherland Committee and Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs sent delegations to visit and present gifts to 1,613 elderly people aged 70 and above. State President also congratulated and sent gifts to 86 elders who are now 100 years old.
