Police crack down on illegal gas sales

The Dong Nai Police have detained 20 people involved in illegal gas trading and extraction at two enterprises in the province.

The Dong Nai Police have detained 20 people involved in illegal gas trading and extraction at two enterprises in the province.

Police confiscated more than 30 tonnes of gas as well as thousands of fake gas cylinders.

Last Friday night, police raided the Viet Gas Company Co Ltd owned by Dang Gia Tuong in Bien Hoa City in the province.

They uncovered a modern system of gas extraction connected to four gas reservoirs.

Police confiscated eight machines used to illegally extract gas, 230 gas cylinders, 385 empty cylinders and thousands of labels and anti-counterfeit stamps with the names of well-known gas companies such as NT Gas, V-gas, VT gas, Sai Gon Petro and Gia Dinh Gas.

The police also found nearly 200 gas cylinders and thousands of labels and anti-counterfeit stamps as they searched Tuong’s house.

At the same time, police checked a Bien Hoa City gas-trading facility, named Xuan Hang, owned by Nguyen Thanh Hai.

The police found four tank trucks pumping 10 tonnes of gas into a storage tank at the facility and four lorries carrying more than 400 gas cylinders.

More than 300 empty cylinders were found at the facility’s warehouse.

The facility’s owner, who could not provide any license for gas trading, admitted that he employed six workers to put gas into 300-1,000 cylinders of various kinds and put labels of famous brandnames on the containers for eventual sale everyday.

The police also inspected a warehouse owned by by Nguyen Xuan Nam of L.P.G Co Ltd in Bien Hoa City, which housed illegal gas cylinders from Viet Gas Company that were to be sold.

At the warehouse, police confiscated 500 gas cylinders and nearly 1,000 empty cylinders as well as labels and anti-counterfeit stamps. At Nam’s house, police found 1,600 empty cylinders.
